Playback control

Built-in OSC controls the first 10 playbacks. Go, Release and Pause send no argument. Jump-to-cue puts the cue in the address, e.g. /pb/1/3.

Execute window

Address /exec/GRID/ITEM, controlling the first 10 execute grids. Not sure of an item's address? On the console, select it and type // then Enter to reveal it.

Global / console

/dbo sends 0 to activate blackout, non-zero to clear it. /swap sets playback mode (1 = Swap, 0 = Add). /feedback tells MagicQ to stream fader/button state back to this address — set the same receive port in Setup → View Settings → OSC.

Raw / custom message

Full manual control for AUTOM-window addresses or anything the presets don't cover. The prefix is still prepended.

Heads up — browsers can't send OSC directly. OSC travels over UDP, which web pages can't open. This tool builds the exact message; paste it into a real OSC sender (Bitfocus Companion, QLab, TouchOSC, Open Stage Control — or our own SchwiftyEx) pointed at your MagicQ's IP and OSC input port. To test on the console itself, type testosc followed by the string.

New to OSC? Do the three steps once, then copy any ready-made example straight into your OSC app. Every message below already includes your prefix from the top bar.

STEP 1

Turn on OSC in MagicQ

On the console: Setup → View Settings → Network. Set Mode to receive OSC (Rx or Rx + Tx) and note the OSC In Port (default 8000).

STEP 2

Build a message above

Pick a tab (Playback, Execute…), set the dropdowns, and the panel on the right shows the finished message live.

STEP 3

Copy it into an OSC sender

Paste into Companion, TouchOSC, QLab or Open Stage Control, aimed at the console's IP address and the port from Step 1. Or type testosc … on the console to test.

Numbers are examples — playback 1, cue 3, execute grid 1 item 5. Swap in your own. Built-in OSC covers the first 10 playbacks and first 10 execute grids; for anything beyond that, add rows in the console's AUTOM (Automation) window. Levels shown use the 0–100 range.

MIDI message

Note/CC/PC are raw channel-voice MIDI (9n/8n note+velocity, Bn CC+value, Cn program). What they trigger depends on the console’s MIDI-remote mapping.

This section outputs MIDI, not OSC. Send the bytes over USB-MIDI / DIN (or MIDI-over-TCP where supported). The OSC builder is unchanged — flip the switch at the top to go back.
